The YIHUA 939D-II Dual-Pen Wood Burning Pyrography Station is one of our top picks. This station comes with two types of pens that can be used individually or simultaneously. Pen 1 features 25 tip-type pen tips with a denser mass for burning larger areas and creating larger shading. Pen 2 comes with 20 nib-type pen tips for detailed techniques on artwork.

Pen 1 can be adjusted from 392~896°F (200~480°C) for heavy-shading, darker burns, hot-stamping, and other techniques. Pen 2 can be adjusted from 482~1382°F (250~750°C) for outlining, light-shading, detailing, light-carving, and other techniques. The station unit is equipped with two individual control knobs and power switches, allowing you to turn on and set the preferred temperatures for the two pens separately.

Instead of an integrated design, both Pen 1 and 2 connect to the station via our safety receptacle, enabling you to easily swap out a pen that has reached its maximum lifespan for a replacement. To achieve perfect long strokes, burn the artwork stroke by stroke, avoiding excessively long strokes. When burning, keep the length of each long-stroke within 2 to 2.7 inches and lift off the nib from the wood as the color fades. Allow the nib to heat up again and apply it to the wood to continue the stroke.

The color of the burn can be adjusted by setting the appropriate temperature. For common wood materials, we recommend setting the station at around 500-650°C. For denser wood materials, you may need to use a higher temperature setting. Shading can be achieved by applying multiple strokes at the same spot with the desired temperature setting.
